Every Step

“God Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things.” Acts 17:25

There was a song called “Every Breath You Take”, released the year I graduated from High School. The group was called “the Police” but most people would know the lead singer, Sting. I find the song fascinating as it was written as a love song where one person is completely enamored by another. But somehow I find so many of the lyrics a comforting story of God’s love for us. “Every breath you take, every move you make, every step you take, I’ll be watching you. Oh can’t you see, you belong to me. My heart aches with every step you take.” Indeed,

God Cares For Us Beyond Our Comprehension.

Yet so many of us live with fear and anxiety, like one gentlemen I was talking to just a few days ago. As a way to help him remember how God cares for him I actually shared this song with him that he had also remembered from his youth. I did so as a way for him to easily remember that God never sleeps, and loves Him so much that He’s intently interested in every single moment of his life. With that kind of attention from God, what is there to fear in life? A smile found its way across his lips as he said, “you are right”. God is an amazing, caring, compassionate, forgiving, providing Father. As I’ve said often, He’s only a prayer away. Talk to Him.
