Promises

“God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Numbers 23:19

Numbers 23:19 speaks directly to the promises of God. In short, if He said it, He will do it. There is an old Hymn that says it best: “Great is Thy faithfulness, oh God my Father. There is no shadow of turning with Thee. You never change your comparisons they fail not. As You have been, You ever shall be.

Great is Thy Faithfulness.”

Philippians 1:6 says, “He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.” Indeed, God is not a man, He is God. When he speaks, when He promises, it’s impossible for Him not to follow through on His word. God loves you and He never fails.

God’s Plan

“He (God) who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.” Philippians 1:6

Dale Carnegie once said, “We all have possibilities we don’t know about. We can do things we don’t even dream we can do.”

God’s Plans For You Are Bigger Than You Think.

God created you for a purpose and a reason so stop getting in your own way. Let him take the wheel and finish the job. You will be amazed where He leads.

To Tell The Truth

“I will praise You (God) because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 129:14

Famed author of the Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis, once said, “the greatest lie the devil ever told is to make us believe he does not exist”. That’s not the last lie that most people have bought into. When you think, “I’m not good enough”, or “I’m not smart enough”, or “I’m not rich enough,” all lies the devil is craftily poking you with day by day. The truth is actually given to us in the Psalms, telling us that

We Are Wonderfully Made By God.

You are enough, period. Let God define who you are, not society, or man, or the lies the devil who loves to whisper in your ear. Time to drown out all those negative words and thoughts and see the amazing person that you are.

Mr. Blue Sky

“He calms the storm” Psalm 107:29

Many decades ago Jeff Lynne, founder of the famed 70’s and 80’s band the Electric Light Orchestra was searching for a new set of hit songs to record. In his efforts he traveled to Switzerland for inspiration and spent time in a cabin hoping for lighting to strike. For days on end the the skies were cloudy and gloomy to the point that he felt more depressed than inspired. Then one day the skies parted and he awoke to beautiful clear blue skies. Lynne’s hit song “Mr. Blue Sky” then only took him about thirty minutes to write. “Sun is shining in the sky, there ain’t no cloud in sight. Everybody’s in the play and don’t you know it’s a beautiful new day.” Thankfully,

There Has Never Been A Storm

That Did Not End

No matter what you are going through today, the storm will eventually end. Psalm 107 reminds us that God is in charge. Thankfully, you have a direct dial connection to him. Reach out to him and hand your storm to him. Not only will he provide you with the strength to weather your storm, but you will come out stronger than you ever thought possible on the other side. Our God is the Lord of the storm.

Try!

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

So many times we see failure as a foregone conclusion when times get tough, or, we won’t even dive into something new for fear the outcome will be disastrous. I too have battled my own fear of failure. Yet, the idea of doing nothing has always seemed worse to me than any fears I have over diving into something new. For as actor George Clooney once said,

“The only failure is not to try.”

From our scripture verse today, when Paul writes these words, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” it’s after a long laundry list of conditions that he’s endured as a man of faith. He endured both ridicule and received praise, had plenty and lived with poverty. Yet in all these things he said he had learned to be content with whatever life threw at him. Faith is facing fears and moving forward anyway. Take another step forward today.

Light

“You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

You Are The Light Of The World

Whether you think of yourself as a source of light or not, you are. Your smile, your words of kindness and encouragement, your laughter, all bring light into the lives of those around you. Be the light burning within you today.

What If

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27

Ask yourself, what if God’s promises are real? What if I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me? What if with God nothing is impossible? What if by His stripes I am healed? A whole new world awaits you when you realize that

Nothing Is Too Hard For God.

A few chapters earlier in Jeremiah 29:11 God Himself says, “I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a future and a hope.” Today, this promise from God is for you.

Table Setting

“You (God) prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” Psalm 23:5

David, the author of this Psalm 23, once stood before Goliath with a slingshot and five stones. He did not need five stones to take out Goliath, the other four stones were for Goliath’s brothers (go back and read the story in 1 Samuel 17). One stone each was all it would take for David fully understood more than anyone what it meant for God to prepare a table before him in the presence of his enemies.

God Is All You Need.

David further expounds this concept a few chapters later in Psalm 46, where he says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear.” Indeed, God has prepared a table before you, in the very presence of your enemies. And who are your enemies? Don’t always assume its people. How about fear? Worry? Guilt? We wrestle with a lot of enemies in our minds every single day. Just remember, God sits with you at the table He has set before you. Trust Him.

It’s Personal

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “God enters by a private door into every individual.” No one else can make the decision for you, or live your life of faith for you.

Faith Is A Very Personal Decision.

A life of faith is also a decision we choose to make every day. It’s a life that’s worked for me, and I can highly recommend it. It’s as personal to me as breathing. Jesus name is never far from my lips, and I feel his presence like a warm blanket every hour of every day. The elusive substance and evidence spoken of in Hebrews 11 will somehow become very real to you when you say yes to Jesus. I can’t explain it other than to say the decision yours to make.

Life

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

For everything there is indeed a season. However, that begs the question today, are you ready for a new season? Scripture tells us over and over and over again that we can change our seasons. We’re not stuck unless we want to be. Don’t believe me, then press rewind and read through the 700 or so daily devotionals in this blog. Jesus is the One who said,

“I Have Come That You May Have Life...

and have it abundantly!” I don’t know about you but I’ll sign up for that. Care to join me? Reach out in faith today because Jesus also said, “with men it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
