“I delight to do your will, oh my God…” Psalm 40:8
What is God’s will for my Life? The question is as old as time itself. Thankfully, there is an answer. If we are seeking God’s will for our lives than we are surely praying what David prayed in Psalm 40:8, where he said, “My God, I want to do what you want.” In other words, draw near to Him and
God Will Show You The Answer
Are you going to believe for one minute that He did all the planning to create someone as special and unique as you but failed to plan your future? Ask Him, He will show you the way.
“The heavens are Yours, the earth is also Yours; You have founded them.” Psalm 89:1
When you feel like you don’t have all the answers and powerless in your circumstances, remember that God is still God. Psalm 89 says, “O LORD God of hosts, Who is mighty like You? Your faithfulness also surrounds You. You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them. The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; You have founded them. The north and the south, You have created them. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! For You are the glory of their strength. Blessed be the Lord.”
It’s Time To Relax, God Is In Control.
There is nothing we face that is too difficult for God to deal with. There is no circumstance that you are going through that He cannot deliver in just the perfect way. The question is, have you handed your life over to this great and mighty and powerful and merciful God who owns and rules the heavens and the earth? If you have, stop worrying and trust in His care!
“And when He (Jesus) had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray.” Matthew 14:23
Pick any of a thousand things that fill up your day and each crosses your mind before your first cup of coffee. 14th century English author and poet, Geoffrey Chaucer, once said, “the tide and time wait for no man”. Indeed, every day the world keeps turning. So we ask ourselves,
Where’s The Peace that Jesus Promised?
We seem to have found it right here in Matthew 14:23, in a verse that does not speak of miraculous healings, or waters parting, but of an even more profound truth that we all need to live by. “When Jesus had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray.” Think about it for a minute. Jesus is son of the living God. If anyone in history ever had a direct hotline to God it was Jesus. He could have stood in the middle of the crowds and busied himself from morning till night tending to the tremendous needs of the world around him, and yet he slipped away in solitude to pray, to spend time with His Heavenly Father. If Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, found it necessary to spend time alone with God, what more motivation do you need? Get off the world wide treadmill for a little while each day to go off for some alone time with God. I promise you, the world will get along just fine without you for thirty minutes each day. Spend time with your Heavenly Father.
“your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” 1 Corinthians 2:5
The longer I live, the more I realize just how much I do not know, and how reliant I am on God. Then I realized that’s actually biblical. Today’s verse says “your faith should not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God”.
Pray Daily For Wisdom.
The book of Ecclesiastes tells us that “there is nothing new under heaven”. When you really think about it humans have been going at each other since the fall of man. We’re not even clever enough to come up with new subjects to disagree over; money, authority, control, sex, power, and the list goes on. The truth is there is only One with true power. There is only One with true authority. There is only One with true wisdom. God Almighty is his name. Between you and me, thank God! When we as humans try to take over control, we quickly make a mess of things. Set aside the ills of society and just focus on your own life for a moment. If you are anything like me, it will take only a minute or two of reflection for you to say, “Lord God, forgive me for looking to my own wisdom and not to yours!” Let such a prayer fall from your lips and be prepared for a glorious, fulfilled, prosperous, and contented life!
“Into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Psalm 31:5 & Luke 23:46
Living a life of faith goes well beyond feelings, it’s about surrendering to God’s will. So often when Jesus spoke at critical times during His time on earth He would quote scripture, for scripture is God’s word, and the foundation upon which we build our faith. In His final breath on the Cross, Jesus, in Luke 23:46, was quoting Psalm 31:5, which says, “Into Your hands I commit My spirit” In these few words Jesus verbally declared that
God Alone Is The Final Authority.
No matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, God is the final word. He formed us, He created us and all that we see. If this were not enough He also loves us beyond our comprehension which He demonstrated in the life of His son Jesus. The same Jesus who on the cross taught us one more valuable lesson, surrendering to God’s will. Whatever you have for me today, Lord, I am yours.
“My God will supply all your needs, according to His riches in glory.” Philippians 4:19
Every day I pray, “Lord, whatever you have for me today I am grateful.” I’m continually amazed at how God answers that prayer. With human eyes, some days may seem insignificant compared to others, but
Each Day Is Orchestrated By God.
How do I know this? I know because I surrendered the day to Him and trusted that He would make of it the special treat that He wanted for me. You don’t have to wake each day needing all the answers. Let Him lead and the right answers will come.
God said, “Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and marvelous things that you do not know!” Jeremiah 33:3
God made a promise. “Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and marvelous things you do not know”. So, how do we take God up on His promise? Spend time alone with Him. I’m not sure what your life looks like, but mine is filled with a thousand and one distractions competing for attention.
Time To Narrow Your Focus.
Out of everything I can or have to do in a day, the single most important thing is to find an isolated place, quiet my mind, and spend time alone with God. To those who might say, I’ve never heard from God, or, I’ve not heard from Him in a very long time, remove the distractions and call to Him. He will answer.
“Yet inall these things we are more than conquerors through Him (Jesus) who loved us.” Romans 8:37
We walk through a life filled with all manner of obstacles and circumstances that on the surface appear to be completely hopeless. The world around us screams “give up” with each new trap in our path. Then there is that glorious three letter word that God places in the back of our mind. I call this word “the game changer”. The word is “YET”. Things seem hopeless, and YET. All seems lost, and YET. If you had any sense you would give up, and YET. The word YET begins our scripture today because it is a game changer. “YET in all circumstances we are more than conquerors
Through Jesus who loves us!”
The next time you face a challenge or fear just remember, no matter how bad things look – YET you are more than a conqueror through Jesus who loves you! You can make it through.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
The illusion in life is that we are helpless, simply being tossed around by circumstances. I remember a time years ago when I would urgently pray for situations in my life with a sense of unease and insecurity. Then I decided to look past my insecurities and
Take Scripture At Face Value!
Romans 8:31-32, which says, “If God is for me, who can be against me? He (God) who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him (Jesus), graciously give us all things?” With this verse I understand that God is already on my side, I don’t have to convince Him to be. I also understand that He wants the best for me. This is why Jesus tells us not to worry, over, and over again. We don’t have to because God is for us, period! This knowledge has forever altered my prayer life. Now, I just have a conversation with God, I thank him, I praise him, and yes I ask His help in my life and for those I pray for. And I know that God, who graciously gave me Jesus, will give me just what I need, when I need it, in this time He has for me on this earth before He calls me home to live with Him. Discover this faith for yourself. I’m not special, I’ve just chosen a life of faith.
Jesus said, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, o you of little faith.
Jesus Then Continued, “Do Not Worry,
saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek” (In that time gentiles were those who did not believe in God). “For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” In just ten short verses Jesus tells us not to worry five times! Take a minute and let that sink in.
