The Greatest Showman

“I will praise You (God) because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 129:14

It’s been a while since I’ve been blown away by a film, but Hugh Jackman staring in “The Greatest Showman” certainly rose to that level. The creative telling of famed circus creator, P.T. Barnum, was a musical triumph. A story of overcoming all the odds to making a positive difference in the lives of people, no one more so than the performers in his act, those who considered themselves misfits in society. The lyrics of one song of triumph over adversity hit the mark so closely it was actually nominated for an Oscar. The song said,

“I’m not a stranger to the dark. ‘Hide away’, they say, ‘we don’t want your broken parts’. I’ve learned to be ashamed of all my scars. ‘Run away’, they say, ’cause no one will love you as you are’.

When the sharpest words want to cut me down. Gonna send a flood gonna drown them out. I am brave, I am proof this is who I’m meant to be, this is me.”

The Psalms tell us that we are wonderfully made by God. So, let God define who you are, not society, or man, or the lies the devil loves to whisper in your ear. Remember, God has also given to you a powerful spirit, for as 2 Timothy 2:7 says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.” Time to drown out all those negative words and thoughts and see the amazing person that you are.
